A SIDEKICK CREATIVE AGENCY CASE STUDY

WHO IS SAINT PAUL'S?

Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church is rooted in the history of both the episcopal faith tradition and its presence in the community since 1863. Their beautiful, historic campus is situated in downtown Waco, which provides ample opportunity for community impact. Preserving history is a key value of Saint Paul’s, which includes the preservation of their building. Saint Paul’s is a socially and theologically diverse congregation made up of lifetime members and recent converts alike.

HOW DOES SAINT PAUL'S USE SIDEKICK?

Saint Paul’s engaged with us on a project basis by walking through the entire Brand Strategy Process, as well as having us capture photos of their space and community life, and create a brand new website.

“We knew we needed to reclaim our identity and reset our purpose and path forward, and this process knocked it out the park for us. As I look back on our old branding/identity/mission, what I notice is that this process really did help us become more fully ourselves. We matured our brand to embrace the fullness of who we are and where we are going together.”

SAMANTHA R.E. SMITH, RECTOR, SAINT PAUL'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH

BRANDING SAINT PAUL'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH

Saint Paul's walked through the entire Brand Strategy Process and the challenge that became clear to us was how to preserve a church that has a beautifully rich history, but also wants to stay relevant to people in the present. Just like any Brand Process, our conversations consisted of discussing the history and dreams that Saint Paul's had for the future. We feel that what we landed on captures the tradition and history while also presenting a relevant, fresh front to the community. The brand system that we created for them is flexible and easy to use for the Saint Paul’s staff and parishioners to utilize in a variety of contexts. Just like at the end of every process, Saint Paul's has an entire 50+ page PDF of Brand Guidelines that documents what was uncovered in the Brand Process, as well as guidelines for brand implementation in the future.

PHOTOGRAPHY

An important aspect of the Saint Paul’s brand process was capturing the church life and emphasizing the community that makes Saint Paul’s special. Saint Paul’s wanted to capture the range of people that attend as well as the various aspects of church life. We also captured some meaningful physical elements of the building and environment that are important to Saint Paul’s culture like The Book of Prayer” etc.

WEBSITE DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT

With a newly refreshed Brand Identity and visual system, Saint Paul’s needed an entire website overhaul. We started from the ground up to create a better user experience for their parishioners and anyone interacting and needing information from their website.

ChMS Integration

Sidekick integrated with Saint Paul’s current systems and infrastructure to streamline media and processes for calendars, giving, forms, and more. This created a framework that simplifies data management through Church Management software and the website working well with one another. In the future, as they upgrade systems, the integration and embeds will work seamlessly with their new website, too.

Custom Design

Included in our design and development was a completely customized and unique design that took our newly developed Saint Paul’s brand refresh and implemented it throughout the website.

Site Mapping & Organization

A challenge to work through with Saint Paul’s original website was the overwhelming breadth of content and pages that already existed from years of adding on and piecing the site together. We worked together with the Saint Paul’s team to simplify and better organize their information – creating a better end user experience.
